Explore the Advanced Capabilities of the RevoTig 500 ACDC

? Full AC Waveform Control for Aluminum and Magnesium Alloys

The RevoTig 500 ACDC offers advanced capabilities for adjusting the characteristics of alternating current (AC) to meet the specific requirements of welding aluminum and its alloys. The user has a choice of four waveforms: rectangular (for fast welding with good penetration), sinusoidal (for a quieter and softer arc), triangular (for reduced heat input in thin materials) and trapezoidal (for good wetting and pool control).

In addition, precise adjustment of the EN/EP balance (ratio of negative to positive half-wave duration) allows optimum cleaning of the oxide layer while ensuring proper fusion depth. The ability to adjust the AC current frequency from 20-300 Hz gives the welder control over arc focus and process stability. This comprehensive control translates into higher weld quality, less risk of defects and better weld face appearance.

? Precision Pulsed DC and AC TIG for a Variety of Applications

The RevoTig 500 ACDC features advanced pulsation functions for both direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC). In DC TIG mode, the pulsation frequency can be adjusted over a very wide range from 0.1 Hz to 3,000 Hz. Low frequencies (0.1-10 Hz) generate a wide arc column, ideal for positional welding, while high frequencies (10-3000 Hz) provide strong arc focus, reduce line energy and are suitable for fast welding of thin sheet metal and fillet welds.

In AC TIG pulse mode, the pulse frequency is adjustable from 20-300 Hz. This feature is particularly useful for welding thin aluminum sheets, where heat control is crucial to avoid burn-through and deformation. The combination of pulsation with the ability to mix AC and DC current (AC-DC Mix TIG) further increases the depth of fusion and reduces tungsten electrode wear.

⚙️ Intelligent MMA and Arc Initiating Functions

In addition to advanced TIG functions, the RevoTig 500 ACDC also offers a powerful shielded electrode welding (MMA) mode. It is equipped with a Voltage Reduction Device (VRD) function that reduces the voltage at the idle output terminals, increasing welder safety, especially in humid environments. The adjustable Arc Force (arc dynamics) function ensures arc stability and prevents electrode sticking, making it easier to weld different types of electrodes.

The unique circuit design allows stable TIG DC arc ignition as low as 3A, which is extremely important for precision welding of very thin materials (e.g. 0.3 mm stainless steel). Selectable ignition method (HF or Lift Arc) further increases application flexibility.

?️ Advanced Heat Management and Special Features

The RevoTig 500 ACDC allows precise management of the energy injected into the material by adjusting the rise time (0-20s) and fall time of the current (0-20s), which is crucial for achieving the perfect start and finish of the weld (crater filling). The TIG spot welding function with adjustable spot duration (0.1-30s) ensures repeatable and aesthetically pleasing joints.

The ability to independently adjust the proportion of positive (EP) and negative (EN) half-waves in the AC current cycle allows fine-tuning of the intensity of oxide cleaning and the depth and width of the fusion. This flexibility is invaluable when welding aluminum alloys of different thicknesses and surface cleanliness. The unit also has 50 memory cells for individual welding programs (JOB).
