Pulsed welding current (switching between base current and peak current) allows precise management of the amount of heat input into the material. This is particularly beneficial when welding thin sheet metal, where it minimizes the risk of burn-through and distortion.

Thanks to TIG DC pulsation, the welder gains better control over the weld pool, making it easier to form an aesthetically pleasing and even weld, especially in forced positions. The reduction in linear energy also translates into a narrower heat-affected zone (SWC), which is crucial for maintaining the mechanical properties of welded materials such as stainless and high-alloy steels. This feature increases precision and quality, while improving the appearance of the final product.

In addition to advanced TIG DC capabilities, the Böhler URANOS 1800 TLH also offers full support for MMA (shielded electrode) welding, equipped with key features to optimize the process.
* Hot Start: Provides easier arc starting by momentarily increasing the welding current at the beginning of the process. This is especially helpful when working with hard-to-fuse electrodes or on cold material.
* Arc Force (arc dynamics): Automatically stabilizes the welding arc, preventing it from extinguishing when the arc length is shortened (e.g. when the electrode is melted into the weld pool). This function makes welding easier, especially in difficult positions and with different types of electrodes.
* Anti-Sticking: Reduces the risk of the electrode sticking to the material being welded. In the event of a short circuit, the device automatically lowers the welding current, allowing the electrode to be easily detached without damaging the electrode coating.
