Description
Basic data of the Paton StandardMIG 250 mig welding machine
Paton StandardMIG 250 MIG/MAG MMA/TIG Lift digital mig welder is designed for semi-automatic arc welding in MIG/MAG method, gas shielded arc welding in TIG method and manual arc welding with coated electrode MMA, direct current (DC) with the possibility of using the PULSE function.
The “Standard” series devices are dedicated to domestic and semi-industrial use. PSI 250S provides a 45% duty cycle at the full rated current of 250A without loss of efficiency and quality of work. Robust construction and simplicity of operation make the work with the device trouble-free, despite the small size of the welder, it allows you to achieve excellent weld quality. The use in this series, completely electronic control method, excludes the disadvantages that are characteristic of multifunctional systems. The welding source is set to optimal values, which allows you to start working with it right away. For more advanced work, the device is equipped with additional functions. A distinctive feature of the PATON™ Standard series semi-automatic machines is the high-quality wire feeder, which has been additionally sealed, as well as the existing KZ-2 “EURO” type integrated connector, which has become a standard worldwide, allowing the user to choose any MIG/MAG holder according to his preferences.
Features and capabilities of the Paton StandardMIG 250 universal mig welder
WELDING FUNCTION WITHOUT GAS – SELF-SHIELD WELDWELDWELDING
All PATON mig machines are equipped for welding with self-shielding wire. Such welding, unlike the traditional MIG/MAG welding process, is carried out without the use of shielding gas – but this requires a special welding wire. Such wire produces its own shielding, which helps protect the welding arc.
SOLDERING – INDUCTANCE CONTROL
Paton MIGOMATS of the Standard and PRO series have the possibility of soldering, thanks to the function of changing the inductance in three stages. The inductance control allows to optimize the arc characteristics depending on the thickness of the component to be welded. This function is necessary to change the speed of current flow when changing the arc voltage. The thinner the component to be welded using MIG/MAG, the inductance should be higher (soft arc – less fusion), for thick components vice versa (hard arc – more fusion).
PULSE FUNCTION IN ALL METHODS
– PULSE in the TIG method – full control of the heat introduced into the material – a great feature for welding stainless steel and acid-resistant steel,
– PULSE in the MMA method – easier transfer of material from the electrode to the welding pool, better quality of the welded joint,
– PULSE in the MIG/MAG method – easier detachment of metal droplets from the end of the electrode wire, the possibility of adjusting the parameters of pulsating current. MIG welding with pulsation is useful for welding stainless steels, acid-resistant steels and aluminum alloys. In addition, pulse welding provides better parameters for soldering CuSi3
MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN STANDARD AND PRO SERIES FLICKER MACHINES:
- duty cycle – Standard series migomators have a 45% duty cycle, while the PRO series has a 70% duty cycle at the same welding current. In addition, the PRO series migomats achieve a continuous duty cycle at a higher welding current than the Standard series migomats.
- wire fe eder – the PRO series has a separate wire feeder that handles spools from 15 to 18 kilos. The feeder can be separated from the source for convenience in welding other methods – such as MMA or DC TIG. The PRO series also has 2 roll or 4 roll versions of wire feeders. In the Standard series flickers for 230V power supply, the feeder is built into the welder, supports only a spool of up to 5 kilos and always has two rolls.
The main advantages of the Paton StandardMIG 250 mig welder:
- European production
- Electronic thermal protection system that protects all heat-generating components from overheating
- Reliability through IGBT technology
- Ability to work on long extension cords as well as with a generator
- Pulsed current welding in any welding method
- Improved arc glow stability
-
Mode change function 2T, 4T, gas cleaning from feeder function
- The devices have voltage spike protection and an operation stabilization system, allowing proper operation for a voltage range of 160V to 260V
- Twice the electricity demand compared to traditional sources
- Optimal fusion and correct stitch shape regardless of welding position
5-year manufacturer’s warranty for consumers as well as companies
The highest quality workmanship confirmed by a 5-year DOOR-to-DOOR manufacturer’s warranty. STD series models feature a number of innovative design solutions that increase their reliability. These include a sealed and fail-safe wire feeder, a KZ-2 EURO type integrated connector and a built-in voltage stabilization module.
The purchased set includes:
- PATON™ StandardMIG-250 230V inverter welder
- Electrode holder 3m
- Mass holder 3m

Compared with the inverter welders of other manufacturers, this product, invented by the designers of the Welding Equipment Department of the E.O. Welding Electrical Institute. Paton, has the following advantages:
- Wide range of adjustable welding parameters:
– MMA method – 1 (basic) + 10 (additional)
– TIG method – 1 (basic) + 4 (additional)
– MIG/MAG method – 2 (basic) + 4 (additional) - Pulsed current welding function, which is additionally programmable – in all welding modes.
- Power surge protection system.
- Despite the protection against electrical voltage spikes, a system has been installed to stabilize operation at larger long-term voltage differences in the single-phase electrical network from 160 V to 260 V. It is worth remembering that at a minimum voltage of 160 V, welding can be carried out with an electrode with a diameter of no more than Ф3 mm or semi-automatic welding with a wire no larger than Ф 0.8 mm.
- Adapted to the standard electricity grid. Thanks to its high efficiency, the source provides two times less electricity demand compared to traditional sources.
- Adaptive fan speed, which increases at the beginning of welding, increases even more when the welder is heated and decreases when it is cool, this saves wear on the fan and reduces the amount of dust in the welder.
- Convenience of work due to the long load time at nominal current, which allows welding practically without interruption with Ф5 mm electrodes (for PSI 250 Standard), such as АNО-/21/36 at 200 А at 25 °С.
- Improved reliability of the welder in dusty and high humidity production conditions. The microelectronic system has been moved to a separate chamber protected by a robust structure.
- Enhanced durability due to impregnation of the electronic system with two layers of high-quality varnish, which ensures the reliability of the product throughout its lifetime.
- The welder has an electronic thermal protection system that protects all heat-generating components of the welding unit from overheating.
- Improved arc glow stability.
- Infinitely adjustable welding parameters.
- Efficiency by using the latest advanced IGBT technology.
