For carbon and stainless steels, Pulse and Double Pulse MAG modes are available. Pulse mode provides precise control over droplet transfer, minimizing spatter and heat input. This results in welds with excellent appearance and mechanical properties, especially in thin sheet and stainless steel, where distortion control is critical. Dual pulse further modulates arc energy, creating a distinctive, aesthetically pleasing scale pattern while improving wettability and pond control.

For aluminum and its alloys, the Artsen II PM500 AS offers a dedicated Single Pulse MIG mode. This process is crucial for successful aluminum welding, as it allows precise management of arc energy, breaking the oxide layer and controlling the fluidity of the weld pool. The result is deep penetration, minimal porosity and high weld quality, even with demanding aluminum alloys.

At the heart of the MEGMEET Artsen II PM500 AS is an advanced IGBT inverter digitally controlled by a microprocessor. This technology enables the system to respond extremely quickly to changes in welding conditions and precisely shape the current characteristics. The device implements unique MEGMEET algorithms, such as “special energy controlled short-circuit transition” (special energy controlled short-circuit transfer) and “pulse energy adjustment” (pulse energy adjustment).

These control mechanisms allow optimization of wire fusion and material transfer into the welding pool. This results in exceptional arc stability, even when welding with long electrode wire extensions reaching up to 30 mm. The operator gains full control over the process, which translates into higher weld quality, fewer welding defects and the ability to work in a variety of positions and joint configurations. Precise adjustment of parameters such as arc dynamics, current rise and fall times, and pulse frequency allows the process to be tailored to specific application and material requirements.

The MEGMEET Artsen II PM500 AS package includes a high-performance AnyCool liquid cooling system (most likely the AnyCool-100 model, dedicated to this series), which is a key component for maximum performance and reliability in intensive industrial applications. The cooler is fed directly from the welding source and integrated into the overall system.

The main function of the cooling system is to efficiently remove heat from the MIG/MAG welding chuck. When welding with currents of the order of 500A, especially in pulsed mode or when working for long periods of time, the chuck is exposed to significant thermal stress. Water cooling prevents it from overheating, which significantly extends the life of the chuck’s consumable parts (e.g. current nozzles, connectors) and ensures operator comfort. This allows the device to operate with a claimed duty cycle of 500A at 60% (at 40°C) without the risk of performance degradation or damage. The system has a flow alarm to inform of possible irregularities in the coolant circuit.

The MEGMEET Artsen II PM500 AS is designed to maximize efficiency and repeatability in production environments. The device offers the ability to store up to 50 individual welding programs (JOB). Each program can contain a complete set of optimized parameters for a specific job, material, thickness or welding position. The operator can instantly recall a saved program, eliminating the need to manually set parameters each time.

In addition, the device is equipped with front panel lock and parameter range lock functions. The panel lock prevents accidental or unauthorized change of settings by the operator. Parameter range lock allows the administrator or welding technologist to define acceptable limits for key parameters (e.g., current, voltage), which is critical to ensure compliance with Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) procedures and to maintain the highest quality standards. These functions are crucial in quality management systems and when working with multiple operators with different levels of experience.
