BÖHLER FOX FFB-A is a rutile coated electrode of the E 25 20 R / E310-16 type for welding rolled heat resistant steels. The electrode goes to annealing plants, hardening shops, steam boiler houses and the crude oil and ceramics industries.
The base grades are 1.4586 (X5NiCrMoCuNb22-18), 1.4710 (GX30CrSi6) and 1.4713 (X10CrAl7). Scaling resistance reaches 1200 degrees C, but the manufacturer warns against service between 650 and 900 degrees C because of the risk of embrittlement. Heat resistant CrSiAl steels exposed to sulfurous flue gas are finished with a cap layer of BÖHLER FOX FA, and for heavy walled components the manufacturer recommends the basic FOX FFB.

- Approvals: CE
The rutile coating gives an easy start and a neat bead, which counts for more than toughness when you are repairing furnace baskets and annealing fixtures. Keep the arc short and the beads narrow, and on thin material set the current at the lower limit for the diameter. Remove scale with a stainless steel brush before the next layer, a fused in oxide is an inclusion waiting to happen.
