What FOXcore CM 2 RC flux-cored wire is used for

FOXcore CM 2 RC is a low-alloyed, creep resistant flux-cored wire of the rutile type, alloyed with about 2.25 % Cr and 1 % Mo.

It joins grades such as 1.7380, 10CrMo9-10, 1.7276, 1.7281, 16CrMo9-3, 1.7383 and 11CrMo9-10 together with their equivalents, including boilers and pressure vessels under technical inspection. The deposit stands up to creep at elevated temperature.

  • Classification EN ISO: 17634-A T CrMo2 P M21 1 H10
  • AWS classification: A5.29 / SFA-5.29 E91T1-B3M-H8
  • Shielding gas: M21
  • Diameters: 1.2 mm
  • Approvals: TÜV (11812), CE

Plan the preheating and the post weld heat treatment to the WPS for the grade in hand, CrMo steels harden in the heat affected zone. Do not shorten the stick-out too far, a flux-cored wire needs resistive preheating so the core melts in time. Hold the torch tilted slightly backwards so the slag flows behind the pool, not ahead of it.

Typical weld metal values from the voestalpine Böhler Welding data sheet, issue 03/2021. The minimum or the range guaranteed by the maker is given in brackets. The figures depend on the heat treatment condition and the shielding gas stated in the row and do not replace testing the joint to your own WPS.
