The Migatronic BDH 550 is an inverter MIG/MAG welder with pulse and two wire feeders, liquid cooled. The description gives 550 A at a 40% duty cycle and 400 A at a 100% duty cycle.
What this machine is for
This is a power source for heavy structures and long welds. At a 100% duty cycle it holds 400 A, so you weld with it through a whole shift without breaks for cooling, and you take the peak of 550 A on thick sections and when you weld at high speed. The memory holds programs for steel, aluminium and CrNi steel, so one station covers different orders.
A less common feature is the two wire feeders. You hold two different wires in them at once, for example a wire for steel and a wire for aluminium, or two diameters of the same grade, and you move from one to the other without setting the machine up again. That cuts the standstill on orders where the material changes several times a day.

What to watch out for
The supply is 400 V, and at a current of about 550 A the installation has to be an industrial one, the description gives no fuse rating. Cooling runs on liquid, so check the coolant, the pump and the hoses before the first weld. The interconnection cable is about 2 m, so the feeders stand close to the power source, and with a wider station layout work out the reach. Two feeders take up space and raise the weight of the set, so plan the transport and a fixed station.

This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
