Migatronic Automig 3F cable harness - 74471412
In modern car body repair, where vehicle makers reach for ever more advanced materials such as high strength steels (HSS) and aluminium, standard welding methods are no longer enough. Every repair has to restore the geometry and at the same time keep the structural and anti corrosion integrity of the body. This is the challenge on which the reputation of a workshop and the safety of its customer depend.
The Migatronic Automig series is not only a welding machine, it is a specialist tool designed as a direct answer to these needs. Created together with the automotive trade, the Automig line is a precise system for joining thin sheet, for MIG brazing and for work with demanding materials. With Automig you invest in technology that lowers the risk of errors, raises output and keeps repair quality in line with the highest standards, which shows directly in the profitability of your company.
Key technologies and functions
Synergic programs for the automotive trade
The synergic programs in the Automig series are a digital base of expert knowledge put together for body repair work. The user selects only the type and the thickness of the material and the shielding gas, and the machine sets the welding parameters by itself. This removes time consuming trials and lowers the risk of errors such as burn through or lack of fusion. The system is optimised for the combinations met most often in the automotive trade, including HSS/UHSS steels, aluminium and brazing wires. For a production manager it means repeatable quality, whatever the experience of the operator.
MIG brazing
MIG brazing is a key process in the repair of modern bodies made of galvanised sheet. It runs at a much lower temperature than classic MIG/MAG welding, so the protective zinc layer is not burned away. The structure of the material and its factory corrosion protection stay intact. Machines in the Automig series carry dedicated programs for brazing with CuSi3 and CuAl8 wires, with fine control over the weld pool and very little spatter. This is the technology needed for repairs that follow the specifications of the vehicle makers.
Pulse and double pulse welding
Pulse and double pulse give close control over the heat input of the arc, which is necessary when welding thin and heat sensitive materials such as aluminium and stainless steel. Single pulse allows spatter free welding in almost any position and gives welds of a quality close to the TIG method, but at a much higher speed. Double pulse adds the typical ripple pattern and reduces the heat input even further. In practice this means less distortion of the material, full control over the process and welds of the highest visual and metallurgical quality.
DUO / TRIO versions for maximum flexibility
Automig models in the DUO or TRIO version were designed to get the most out of a welding station. They have two (DUO) or three (TRIO) separate wire feed systems and torch sockets. The machine can stay armed for different tasks at once, for example one torch with steel wire, a second one for brazing and a third one for aluminium. The welder switches between processes and materials with a single button, without changing the machine over. This removes downtime, cuts time consuming changes of feed rollers and wire and clearly shortens the repair cycle.
