What UTP A 759 solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

UTP A 759 is a solid wire in a nickel alloy for corrosion resistant NiCrMo alloys of the 59 type. It goes into tanks and pipework made of nickel alloys, and into cladding layers on steel.

The wire is fed continuously from the feeder and welded under shielding gas. It also suits cladding runs, that is protective layers built up on steel.

  • Classification EN ISO: 18274 S Ni 6059 (NiCr23Mo16)
  • AWS classification: A5.14 ER NiCrMo-13
  • Shielding gas: Z-ArHeHC-30/2/0.05
  • Diameters: 0.8 / 1.0 / 1.2 / 1.6 mm
  • Approvals: TÜV (06065)

Move the pool more slowly than on steel, nickel alloys are sluggish and will not flow to the groove edges on their own. Set the gas flow so the pool stays covered along the whole bead, and screen the workstation when you weld outdoors. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets wire feeding and leads to burnback. Match the diameter to the plate thickness and the welding position, thinner wires are easier to control out of position.

Typical weld metal values from the voestalpine Böhler Welding data sheet, issue 07/2016. The minimum or the range guaranteed by the maker is given in brackets. The figures depend on the heat treatment condition and the shielding gas stated in the row and do not replace testing the joint to your own WPS.
