Materials and Construction Analysis
The construction of the 44-3006LB shield is the result of advanced materials engineering optimised for a single purpose: protection against extreme radiant heat.
Outer layer: Made of aluminised material (PFR, Protective Flame Retardant) that acts as a mirror for heat and reflects up to 95% of infrared radiation. This protects not only the welder's hand but also the glove itself against premature wear and thermal degradation.
Inner layer: The side that rests on the glove is made of tough cowhide split leather. It does two jobs: it forms an additional insulating barrier against contact heat and it provides high resistance to mechanical damage.
Structural integrity: The absolutely key element is the 5-strand braided DuPont™ KEVLAR® thread used for the stitching. It ensures that the shield does not come apart under extreme temperature or mechanical stress, which is the most common cause of failure in cheaper products.
