Weldas 44-3006LB aluminised hand heat shield (pair)
Weldas hand heat shields are a specialised modular solution designed to resolve the age-old trade-off between dexterity and protection in high-temperature applications. Instead of making one bulky glove, Weldas offers a smart system of extra protection. Materials and Construction
The 44-3006LB shield is a careful piece of materials engineering, optimised for maximum thermal protection.
Outer layer: Made of an advanced aluminised material (PFR rayon or glass fibre) whose key function is to act as a mirror for heat. It reflects up to 95% of radiant heat, drastically reducing the temperature that reaches the glove and the welder’s hand.
Inner layer: The layer in contact with the glove is made of high-quality cowhide split leather. It has two roles: it forms a barrier against contact heat and gives very good mechanical strength and abrasion resistance.
Structural integrity: An absolutely key element is the use of 5-strand braided DuPont™ KEVLAR® thread. Its extreme mechanical strength and resistance to high temperature ensure that the seams will not burn through or tear even in the most extreme conditions, keeping the whole shield intact.
Safety and Certification
This product is designed as specialised supplementary protection. Its construction is based on materials (cowhide split leather, KEVLAR® thread) widely used in certified PPE. It must be stressed, however, that the shield is intended only for protection against radiant heat and is not designed to protect against molten metal spatter. It is part of a protection system, not a stand-alone item of personal protective equipment within the meaning of EN 12477.
