Avesta 308L-Si/MVR-Si is a TIG welding rod for stainless and acid-resistant steels. Typical work covers tanks, process installations, equipment for the food and chemical industries and structures in contact with water and steam.
Base materials are 1.4301, 1.4307, 304L, 1.4311, 304LN and 1.4541. The rod suits root runs, thin walls and welds that need a smooth face.

Use brushes and discs kept only for stainless steel, carbon steel particles cause rust staining on the bead face. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Match the diameter to the plate thickness and the welding position, thinner rods are easier to control out of position.
