What BÖHLER Q G 309L-Si solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

BÖHLER Q G 309L-Si is a high-alloyed austenitic stainless solid wire. It is used on process plant, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.

Parent materials are P295GH and P355N. The deposit has an austenitic structure, and the wire goes into tank building, process piping and equipment for the chemical and food industries.

  • Classification EN ISO: 14343-A 23 12 L Si
  • AWS classification: A5.9 / SFA-5.9 ER309LSi
  • Shielding gas: M12, M13
  • Diameters: 0.8 / 1.0 / 1.2 mm
  • Approvals: TÜV (19796), DB (43.132.91), CE

After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
