The Lincoln Electric Power Wave 455 is a liquid cooled digital MIG/MAG power source with pulse and a synergic mode. You set the current from 3 to 570 A; at a 60% duty cycle the machine gives 500 A, and it runs 400 A without a break. The set includes a four roller wire feeder and a new torch rated 500 A.
What this machine is for
This is a power source for a workshop and for production, where one station welds different materials. The memory holds programs for different metals, so once you enter the wire and the gas the machine suggests the settings and you correct them for the part. The bottom 3 A gives access to very thin sheet, and the top 570 A will pull heavy joints.
The 400 A at a 100% duty cycle sets the pace of long runs, and the 500 A at a 60% duty cycle stays for thicker sections. Pulse limits spatter, which you see on stainless steel and aluminium. The four roller wire feeder guides soft wire evenly as well, and the torch in the set is liquid cooled and rated 500 A.

What to watch out for
The supply is 400 V, so you need a three phase connection to start it up. Cooling is by liquid, so check the fluid level and the flow before you start. The record classes the machine up to 500 A, while the manufacturer description gives a range up to 570 A, so use the duty cycle when you match it to the work: 500 A at 60% and 400 A at 100%. The record does not list an interconnection cable, so the reach is set by the 4 m torch and the 3 m earth cable.

This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added.
