Fronius TPS 5000 Comfort, that is TransPuls Synergic 5000, is a digital MIG/MAG power source for a 400 V supply, cooled by liquid. You set the current from 3 A to 500 A, and at a continuous 100% load the source gives 360 A. The Comfort panel has a text display and handles Jobs programs.
What this machine is for
This is a power source for production that runs two or three shifts. Continuous work at 360 A means that on typical structural welds you do not watch for cooling breaks, and the reserve up to 500 A stays for thick sections, surfacing and wires of large diameter. The setting goes down to 3 A, so at the same station you also weld thin parts.
The system is digital. The inverter samples the arc parameters very often, and the signal processor corrects the output current on the fly, so the arc stays even when the stick out changes, with mains swings and when you move to another position. The pulse works on the pattern of one drop per one impulse, so welding aluminium and stainless steel goes practically without spatter, and the face needs no cleaning after welding.
Beyond MIG/MAG with synergy and pulse the machine handles TIG DC and the covered electrode, so one power source covers welding of structures, welds that need a clean face and repairs in the field. The manufacturer aimed this model at shipyards and at car factories, that is where the same parts come off the line all the time and repeatable parameters count.

What to watch out for
The supply is a 400 V mains, and you size the power circuit for work at 500 A: the cross section of the cables, the state of the contacts in the switchboard and the quality of the earth connection mean more at that current than the setting on the panel. The duty cycle drops with the current, you work without breaks at 360 A, so on long passes plan the setting for continuous work. Tunnel cooling protects the electronics against dust, but the air duct and the heat sinks have to be blown out from time to time, because a blocked duct raises the temperature of the circuits.
The data sheet does not list a feeder, a torch or interconnection cables in the set, so confirm the content with us before you buy. For work at 500 A you need a liquid cooled torch of the right rating, and for aluminium a teflon liner and rolls for soft filler. The cooler needs fluid with frost protection, before the first strike check the level, the flow and the tightness of the quick couplings. The data sheet gives no weight and no dimensions, and a set with the power source, the cooler and the feeder weighs a lot, so plan the transport in advance.

This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
