The Migatronic Focus Stick 120 is the smallest MMA inverter in this line, supplied from 230 V. You set the current from 20 to 120 A, at a 100% duty cycle the machine gives 90 A, and it weighs 4.9 kg.
The new successor to this 230 V inverter is the Focus Stick 120E PFC (the site is in Polish).
What this machine is for
This is a tool for quick repairs, for assembly at height and for work in tight places, where the weight and the access to a socket count. The maker aims it at service technicians, at HVAC installers and at workshops where welding is one of many tasks. The range from 20 to 120 A covers rutile electrodes, basic electrodes and stainless steel electrodes.
The open circuit voltage of 95 V gives a fast arc start, also with a basic electrode, which strikes with more difficulty. Hot Start raises the current at ignition, and Arc Force holds the arc at a short stick out and stops the electrode sticking to the pool. After you connect a TIG torch with a gas valve you weld mild steel and stainless steel with the TIG Lift method.
The PFC module, that is power factor correction, draws the current from the mains with smaller losses. Thanks to that the welder works with wide voltage swings, on long extension leads and with a low fuse rating in the installation, and the arc stays soft and steady.
Features and equipment
- PFC module for work with voltage swings and on long extension leads.
- Hot Start, that is a current boost when the electrode strikes.
- Arc Force, that is a steady arc and protection against the electrode sticking.
- TIG Lift after you buy a torch with a gas valve, for mild steel and stainless steel.
- Work with rutile, basic and stainless steel electrodes.

What to watch out for
The supply is 230 V with a tolerance from minus 40% to plus 10%, so the machine forgives a weak mains, but on a long extension lead watch the conductor cross section. In continuous work the machine gives 90 A, so at 120 A count on breaks for cooling, and for longer welds in thick material take a stronger power source. The product card gives no cooling system and no dimensions, so confirm the setup before you buy.
The TIG Lift torch with a gas valve is not part of the set, and the card does not list cables either, so ask about the accessories.
How we sell used machines
This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
