The Migatronic Focus Stick 160 E PFC is a light inverter power source for welding with covered electrodes. You set the current steplessly from 20 to 160 A and take the supply from a 230 V socket. At a 40% duty cycle the machine gives 160 A, and it runs 100 A without a break.
What this machine is for
This is kit for repairs, assembly and site work, where there is no three phase supply. An ordinary 230 V socket is enough to set up a station on a building site, on a farm or in a workshop garage. A covered electrode needs no gas cylinder, so outdoors and in wind the arc keeps its shielding from the melting coating.
The 100 A at a 100% duty cycle sets the limit for long runs, and you take the 160 A at a 40% duty cycle for a thicker electrode and shorter welds. Stepless current control lets you go down to 20 A on thin material and on tack welds, so one machine covers small repairs and heavier joints. The PFC in the name points to a power factor correction circuit, which tidies up the current drawn from the mains and makes work on an extension lead easier.

What to watch out for
The supply is 230 V single phase, so check the load on the circuit and the fuse at the place of work. On a long extension lead the voltage drops and the arc loses stability, so take a cable with a larger cross section. You get the full 160 A at a 40% duty cycle; for continuous work stay at 100 A, and it is that figure you use to work out the pace of longer welds.
The record does not give the type of cooling or the weight of the machine, so ask us about it before you buy. It does not list an electrode holder or an earth cable either, so add them to the budget together with a stock of electrodes.

This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
