Optrel Weldcap

At the heart of the Weldcap is an advanced auto-darkening filter (ADF) with an adjustable dark shade from DIN 9 to 12, which gives the right level of eye protection for the vast majority of common welding applications, including precise TIG welding, versatile MIG/MAG and robust MMA. For professionals this means one tool that handles many different welding jobs. The helmet also has a very light idle state of DIN 3, intended for grinding and all preparation work, so you get a clear and safe view whenever the arc is off. Some advanced Weldcap models may offer an even broader adjustable ADF range, for example DIN 3/9-13, which makes the helmet easier to adapt to the requirements of a given welding process. Whatever your level of experience, the integrated grinding mode, which works at the light DIN 3 shade, lets you move straight to grinding without taking off or changing the face shield. This makes your work noticeably more efficient and saves valuable time.

One of the most distinctive features of the Weldcap is its optical unit with an ergonomic nose cut-out. This design places the auto-darkening filter (ADF) lens much closer to the welder's eyes than in welding helmets of conventional construction. For professional and hobby welders alike, this means a much larger field of view, in some cases up to 2.7 times larger than in standard industrial welding helmets. The Weldcap offers viewing angles of +37° downwards and +25° to the sides, giving the welder a wide, panoramic view of the work area. This extended visibility improves overall awareness of what is happening at the workplace, which directly increases safety. It also improves weld precision and can reduce strain on the neck muscles, because the welder no longer needs to move the head as much to see the work and its surroundings clearly.

Selected, more advanced Weldcap models, such as the Weldcap Hard, which is popular with professionals, are equipped with Optrel's ShadeTronic® technology. For an experienced welder this means that the shade of the auto-darkening filter (ADF) is adjusted automatically and steplessly in real time to the current intensity of the light emitted by the arc. This function keeps eye protection at the optimum level throughout the welding process without any manual adjustment, so you can concentrate fully on the quality and precision of the weld. Automatic shade adjustment is not only convenient and saves time, above all it gives every welder, regardless of experience, the highest level of safety, especially when welding with changing parameters or in changing conditions.

Comfort is essential, especially during long and demanding welding sessions. The Weldcap was designed with close attention to ergonomics and weighs only about 400 grams. For professional welders who spend many hours a day welding, this lower weight noticeably reduces the load on the neck and head muscles, which means less fatigue and higher overall productivity. In addition, the auto-darkening filter (ADF) sits closer to the face in the Weldcap, so the weight of the helmet is distributed more evenly on the head. This further improves wearing comfort and makes the helmet barely noticeable, even during long periods of use.

The hybrid design of the Weldcap combines a sturdy, rigid plastic face shield with a comfortable textile cap made of flame-retardant material that meets the requirements of EN ISO 11611 (Class 1, A1+ A2). For professional welders this means reliable protection against spatter and radiation together with wearing comfort close to that of an ordinary peaked cap. The textile part of the helmet is easy to replace and can be washed, which helps maintain good hygiene and extends the service life of the whole product.
