Rehm MegaPuls 400 is a transformer MIG/MAG power source with pulse and Duo Pulse double pulse, liquid cooled. You set the current from 10 to 400 A in synergic mode, at a 60% duty cycle the machine gives 400 A, and it pulls 310 A without a break. The supply is 3 x 400 V.
What this machine is for
This is a source for heavy industrial work. It went to steel structure plants, shipyards and to makers of rail vehicles and tankers, that is where welding runs long, at high current and on three shifts. A current of 310 A in a 100% duty cycle means that at parameters typical for 1.2 mm wire you lay beads without pauses for the source to cool, and the upper 400 A at a 60% duty cycle is left for fusion runs and welds of a large section.
The range from 10 to 400 A covers parts from 1 mm up to thick structural plate. The synergic programs cover mild steel, CrNi stainless steel and grades of aluminium, and you choose them with one knob. With aluminium in the AlMg5 and AlSi5 grades and with stainless steel you work on pulse, because there an even ripple and little spatter count.
Double pulse switches the work between two current levels, so you steer the amount of heat put into the material. The weld comes out with a regular ripple, close to the one from the TIG method, and often needs no finishing work. Less spatter means less cleaning of the part and a cleaner station. The transformer build takes dust and mains voltage swings better than the complex electronics of an inverter, and a large thermal inertia holds the parameters on very long welds. A repeatable arc characteristic makes it easier to hold the same settings on several stations, which matters when working to a WPS and with quality control.
Features and equipment
- Pulse: the droplet detaches with a current pulse, so you have less spatter than with a short arc and a calmer metal transfer.
- Duo Pulse double pulse: alternating work at two current levels, with which you steer the amount of heat and lay a regular ripple on the face of the weld.
- Full synergy across the whole range from 10 to 400 A, without jumping between modes.
- A library of programs for mild steel, CrNi stainless steel and grades of aluminium, worked with one knob.
- Four roll Rehm Drive feeder: four rolls hold the wire over a longer run, so they guide soft aluminium wire better than a two roll drive.
- Built in liquid cooling system with a high flow, which holds the torch temperature during long work at high current.
- A transformer power source resistant to grinding dust and to surges in the mains.
- Transport wheels, on which you roll the set around the hall without a trolley.
- Operating manual in Polish in the set.

What to watch out for
The supply is 3 x 400 V, so to start up you need a power connection, and you choose the cable section for the draw at full load. The duty cycle is 400 A at 60% and 310 A at 100%, and it is the second figure that sets the pace of long production. The cooling system is built into the source: after delivery check the level and the cleanliness of the fluid and the flow through the torch, because work without a circuit destroys the handle and the cables. The torch has a load capacity of 500 A, that is a reserve over the current of the source.
A transformer source weighs a fair amount, so plan the unloading with a trolley, and around the hall you roll it on its wheels. The interconnection cable is about 1.2 m, so the feeder stands right next to the source, and for work at a greater distance you need a longer package. The earth cable is 3 m, and with a large part a longer one will come in handy. For aluminium prepare rolls for soft wire and the right guide liner.
How we sell used machines
This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
