Thermanit 25/09 CuT is a high alloyed submerged arc (SAW) wire for superduplex stainless steels. It is used in the chemical, paper and marine industries, on parts loaded both mechanically and by corrosion.
The wire suits grades such as 1.4501, UNS S32760, 1.4515 and 1.4517. It goes onto offshore structures where the joint works in seawater, its composition protects the joint against intergranular corrosion, and the deposit matches the superduplex grades.
- Classification EN ISO: 14343-A S 25 9 4 N L
- AWS classification: A5.9 / SFA-5.11 ER2594
- Shielding: flux matched to the wire, no shielding gas
- Diameters: 1.5 / 2.0 / 2.4 / 3.2 mm
Watch the heat input and the interpass temperature, overheating duplex upsets the balance between ferrite and austenite in the weld. Watch the wire stick-out and the position of the head against the weld centre line, under a flux you cannot see the pool and a mistake shows only after the slag is chipped off. Match the flux to this wire and check how dry it is, drying the flux decides the hydrogen level in the weld.
