Weldas LAVAshield® 55-7168 welding screen, green, 1.74 x 2.34 m
Weldas developed the LAVAshield® product line as a complete system for protecting the working environment. Unlike personal protective equipment, which focuses on the welder, LAVAshield® is designed to protect the surroundings, people, machinery and infrastructure from the hazards created by welding. The screens and curtains in this series are professional physical and optical barriers, essential for setting up safe, separated and standard-compliant workstations.
Key features
Certified optical safety: Full compliance with DIN EN ISO 25980, which ensures protection against harmful radiation.
Specialist material: Made of durable, flame-retardant PVC vinyl, 0.35 mm (14 mil) thick.
Radiation protection: Effectively filters harmful UV radiation and the intense blue light emitted by the welding arc.
Improved visual safety: The low-transparency green colour cuts glare to a minimum and protects the eyes of bystanders.
Robust construction: Reinforced, riveted mounting holes around the edge allow easy and stable installation on frames.
Large format: At 1.74 x 2.34 m, the screen effectively closes off standard welding stations.
Technical details and certification
Materials and construction
The 55-7168 screen is made of a technically advanced material: a specially developed PVC vinyl with a thickness of 14 mil (0.35 mm). It is not only a physical barrier against sparks and spatter but, above all, a key element of optical protection. The low-transparency green pigment was chosen to absorb and filter as much of the visible arc light as possible, which prevents glare for people outside the workstation. At the same time, the material effectively blocks invisible but highly harmful UV radiation. Each screen has reinforced edges with evenly spaced mounting holes, which makes it durable and easy to fit to the dedicated frames.
Safety and certification
The Weldas 55-7168 welding screen is certified to the demanding DIN EN ISO 25980 standard. This is the key European standard that sets out the requirements for curtains, strips and screens used in arc welding. The certificate, issued by an independent testing body, confirms that the product:
1. Effectively filters harmful UV radiation to the required level, protecting bystanders from skin burns and eye damage (so-called "welder's flash").
2. Limits the transmission of blue light, which is particularly dangerous for the retina.
3. Has limited flammability, which minimises the risk of fire spreading on contact with sparks.
By choosing a certified product, you invest in proven and documented safety for your workplace.
