Weldas LAVA BROWN™ / PFR 44-7905 double-sided welding cushion
Lava Brown™ is the flagship Weldas series, designed for uncompromising protection in the toughest industrial conditions. Every product in this line, including accessories such as the 44-7905 cushion, follows the philosophy "made by welders for welders". It is a smart protective tool, recommended for demanding positional work on abrasive, hot or uneven surfaces, where standard solutions fall short and the welder's comfort and safety are the top priority.
Key features
Double-sided, task-specific design: One side in Lava Brown™ leather and one side with an aluminised PFR coating.
Maximum mechanical resistance: The leather side protects against spatter and abrasion.
Protection against radiant heat: The aluminised side effectively reflects intense heat.
Thermal insulation: A glass wool filling protects against contact heat.
Outstanding durability: Seams sewn with 5-ply KEVLAR® thread.
Good ergonomics: Integrated, sturdy handle for easy carrying.
Technical details and certification
Materials and construction
Model 44-7905 is an example of well-thought-out product design, where every element has a clearly defined task.
Lava Brown™ side: Made of top-quality grade A cowhide split leather, min. 1 mm thick. It provides mechanical protection when kneeling on sharp, uneven surfaces (gratings, steel structures) and resistance to hot molten metal spatter.
Aluminised PFR side: The other side has a coating of pre-oxidised fibre (PFR) with an aluminium laminate. It reflects up to 95% of radiant heat. This is the side the welder uses when working close to sources of intense heat, e.g. during preheating or on freshly welded, hot workpieces.
Insulating core and construction: The inside is filled with glass wool, which is an excellent barrier to conducted heat. The whole cushion is sewn with 5-ply DuPont™ KEVLAR® thread, so the seams will not burn through or split even in extreme conditions, which is key to the integrity and service life of the product.
Safety and certification
Although accessories such as welding cushions are not directly classified under EN ISO 11611 (which covers clothing), model 44-7905 is made of the materials that form the core of certified Weldas Class 2 clothing. The use of Lava Brown™ cowhide split leather and KEVLAR® thread ensures that the product meets the highest standards of thermal and mechanical durability and offers a level of safety suited to the riskiest welding work.
