This process is highly productive and much faster than covered electrode welding (MMA), TIG and standard short-arc MIG/MAG welding, while still giving high weld quality. Fixed pipes can be welded in any position, and the groove opening angle can be reduced by as much as 40%, depending on the application.
Precise real-time voltage measurement, current control and the right moment of filler metal droplet release give a stable, efficient arc and excellent weld quality. Filler metal transfer is even and spatter-free. According to EN ISO 4063, WiseRoot is a MIG/MAG welding process of type 131, 133, 135 or 138.
BENEFITS
- Higher welding speed compared with MMA, TIG and standard short-arc MAG welding
- Smaller groove volumes are possible
- Handles a broad spread of gaps between the workpieces and of root layers without incomplete or excessive penetration
- The welding technique is easy to learn
- No need for backing rings
- Less spatter
- Fixed pipes can be welded in any position
- Rotated pipes can be welded
- Welding with long cables is possible
- The processes can be used with different materials, such as steel, stainless steel and high-alloy steels
- Excellent arc properties in the WiseRoot+ process, also with CO₂
- Good choice of wire diameters (0.8-1.2)
Optimised process for efficient short-arc root pass welding. Excellent weld quality thanks to control of the arc voltage and the filler metal droplet transfer time. Higher speed than traditional MMA, TIG or short-arc MIG/MAG welding.
