The Böhler Uranos 2000 SMC is an inverter welding power source for single phase 230 V, with a current from 5 to 200 A. At a 35% duty cycle it gives 200 A, at 60% it has 160 A, and in continuous work 130 A. You weld MIG/MAG, MMA and TIG DC Lift, the machine braze welds and it has digital control.
This model is still available new: our second shop lists the URANOS 2000 SMC as a package with the MT 250 torch (the site is in Polish).
What this machine is for
This is equipment for assembly work, for service and for a smaller workshop. A supply of 230 V means you set the station up at an ordinary single phase socket, with no need to run a power line. The GreenWave circuit was prepared for work with a generator, so you can take the machine to a building site.
With wire you join black and stainless steel, and with braze welding galvanised sheet, because the temperature is lower and the coating burns off less. You take the MMA mode for the covered electrode, and TIG DC Lift for ignition by touch. A current of 130 A at a 100% cycle sets the limit for long beads, and above that you weld in sections.

What to watch out for
The supply is 230 V and the fuse 15.3 A, so the circuit has to carry that draw, and on a long extension lead the voltage will drop. The cooling is by gas, so you pick a torch with no liquid circuit. You get the full 200 A at a 35% duty cycle, and in continuous work stay with 130 A. A spool of 200 mm in diameter holds 5 kg of wire, so on longer series you change it more often. The IP23S housing does not take rain.
