ESS SynMag 3000 Synergic is a stationary MIG/MAG welder on a transformer, with synergic control. The current lies within the range from 40 to 300 A at a voltage from 16 to 29 V, at a 30% duty cycle the machine gives 300 A, and in continuous work 150 A. You choose the voltage with a tap switch in 12 steps, and you can also set the working point through the sheet thickness in millimetres.
What this machine is for
The base is classic: a three phase transformer with a rectifier circuit, without sensitive power modules. Such a layout holds a repeatable characteristic even with voltage drops in the installation and takes dust, and the only electronics is the upper synergic control module. An output range from 40 to 300 A at an open circuit voltage from 18 to 42 V lets you fuse into thicker parts, also in forced positions, and the arc stays stiff whatever the free stick out of the wire from the nozzle. For a workshop this means one thing: the machine behaves the same on Monday morning and on Friday afternoon, whatever else is running on the same switchboard.
Synergy shortens the choice of parameters. The PROG program selector loads the setting for the chosen gas and solid wire for carbon and stainless steels, and the machine synchronises the position of the twelve step switch with the right pace of wire feed. Instead of working out the current, you can give the sheet thickness in millimetres, and the system takes the starting point from its own base, which limits burn through on the first passes. Program number zero switches synergy off and you go back to fully manual control, which is useful with an unusual wire or a gas outside the base. The feed correction knob on a scale from 0 to 10 then works as the main control of the motor, and with a program switched on it only changes the factory speed by a few points up or down.
The panel is clear and countable. Double segment displays show the current and, once you switch the view, the voltage or the wire feed speed in metres per minute. The Set and Hold function stops the readings after the end of a pass, which makes it easier to confirm the parameters when the joints are accepted. The manufacturer aimed this model at the machine industry, at series plants working by the logic of sheet thickness, at workshops with raised dust levels and at assembly in halls with a high risk of electric shock.
Features and equipment
- Three phase transformer with a rectifier and a current up to 300 A: a repeatable characteristic despite voltage drops in the mains, with forced cooling.
- Current range from 40 to 300 A at a voltage from 16 to 29 V, with duty cycles of 300 A at 30%, 190 A at 60% and 150 A at 100%: the full picture of the rating of the station.
- Open circuit voltage from 18 to 42 V: a sure strike over the whole range of settings.
- Stepped voltage control in 12 steps: a rotary contactor switches the transformer tap, so the heat put in grows in proportion and predictably.
- PROG synergic control: the selector loads the setting for the gas and the wire for carbon and stainless steels in about 2 seconds.
- Material thickness setting in millimetres: instead of choosing the current you give the sheet thickness, and the machine takes the starting point from the base.
- Program zero: synergy switches off, and you set the voltage and the feed fully by hand.
- Manual wire feed correction on a scale from 0 to 10: in manual mode it controls the motor directly, with a program switched on it works as a correction of the factory speed.
- Double displays of current, voltage and wire speed in metres per minute: you switch the view with one button, it works with gloves on.
- Set and Hold reading memory: the readings from the last pass stay on the display, which makes it easier to check the parameters and to document the process.
- 2T and 4T modes: two step for short, irregular passes, four step for long welds without holding the trigger.
- Timed spot welding from 0 to 5 s: the circuit closes after the programmed time, so the energy in thin sheet is repeatable.
- Protection rating IP23 and the S mark: cleared for work in zones with a raised risk of electric shock, in inspection pits and on platforms, where the housing separates the 400 V circuits from surroundings with gathered damp.
- Physical buttons with a felt travel: you use the panel in flame retardant gloves, without taking them off at every change of setting.
- Forced cooling by an air circuit: the power system holds the declared duty cycles also during longer work in the warmth of a hall.
- Stiff transformer characteristic: the arc does not change with the distance of the nozzle from the material, which forgives less even guiding of the torch.

What to watch out for
The supply is 3 x 400 V at 50 Hz, and the data sheet gives a 16 A time delay fuse for a related version, so it is worth confirming the value on the rating plate of the unit. The duty cycle is 300 A at 30%, 190 A at 60% and 150 A at 100%, so in continuous work the real value is 150 A. The torch is cooled by gas, without a liquid system, so at higher currents pick a torch with a suitable rating.
The dimensions 850 x 360 x 650 mm and the weight 77 kg come from the sheet of the related SynMag 3100 model and are an estimate, confirm them before you order transport. This is a stationary machine, plan a fixed place and access to gas for it. The voltage control is stepped: synergy picks the feed, but you will not change the voltage steplessly nor while the arc burns. The housing is class IP23 with the S mark. Synergy covers solid wires for carbon and stainless steels, with other materials or an unusual gas you go to the zero program and set everything by hand. The rolls and the liner are matched to the wire diameter, and treat the mode of choosing by sheet thickness as a starting point, not as a ready setting for every part.
How we sell used machines
This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
