The EWM Triton 260 DC is a TIG power source on direct current, liquid cooled. The description gives 260 A at a 50% duty cycle and 190 A at a 100% duty cycle. The machine has pulse and a full welding path to set.
What this machine is for
This is a power source for TIG welding on direct current, that is for stainless steel, structural steel, copper and titanium. Aluminium needs alternating current, so you will not set it on this machine. Liquid cooling holds the temperature of the torch on long welds.
A cycle of 190 A at 100% means welding with no time limit, and you hold the full 260 A for five minutes in ten. Pulse limits the amount of heat in the material, so on a thin pipe wall it is easier to hold the root without burning through.
A full welding path to set means control over the whole cycle: gas flow, start current, rise, fall and crater filling. On repeatable parts it decides whether the start and the end of the weld look the same.
Features and equipment
- TIG on direct current for stainless and structural steel.
- Pulse, it limits the heat put into thin walls.
- Full welding path to set.
- Liquid cooling, longer work with the torch at higher currents.

What you get
- New TIG-18 cable 8 m long, liquid cooled, for 350 A at a 100% duty cycle
- Earth cable 3 m
- Supply cable 3 m
What to watch out for
You check the coolant level, the flow and the tightness of the quick couplings before the start, and after a stop in an unheated hall you check whether the fluid has not frozen. You lead the 8 m bundle without sharp bends. The torch in the set is rated for 350 A at a 100% duty cycle, that is with a margin over the power source.
The description does not give the supply parameters, so confirm the voltage and the circuit fuse before connection. For work you add a cylinder with argon, a regulator and tungsten electrodes.
