What FOXcore 309LMo-T1 flux-cored wire is used for

FOXcore 309LMo-T1 is a rutile flux-cored wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It is used on process plant, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.

The rutile core makes constrained positions easier and gives a calm, soft arc, and all welding positions are open to it, which helps on site. The deposition rate is high, which shows on long welds and thicker walls.

  • Classification EN ISO: 17633-A, T 23 12 2 L P M21 (C1) 1
  • AWS classification: A5.22 / SFA-5.22, E309LMoT1-4(1)
  • Diameters: 0.9 / 1.2 / 2.0 mm

Keep the heat input down and do not hold the joint hot longer than needed, austenite expands strongly and pulls the structure out of shape. Remove the slag before every following bead, slag left between layers is the most common source of inclusions. Store the wire dry and do not leave an open spool in the feeder overnight, the core takes up moisture.

Typical weld metal values from the voestalpine Böhler Welding data sheet, issue 01/2021. The minimum or the range guaranteed by the maker is given in brackets. The figures depend on the heat treatment condition and the shielding gas stated in the row and do not replace testing the joint to your own WPS.
