Lincoln Aspect 300 AC/DC is an industrial inverter TIG AC/DC power source with an MMA mode. You set the current from 2 to 300 A, the duty cycle is 300 A at 35%, 240 A at 60% and 200 A at 100%. The supply works from 230 to 400 V with a PFC module, and the DC pulse reaches 2000 Hz.
What this machine is for
This is a power source for aluminium and its alloys on alternating current and for black and stainless steel on direct current. The lower limit of 2 A gives control over a very thin part, where every excess of heat burns the material through, and the upper 300 A pulls thicker sections. In AC mode you choose the wave shape and the polarity balance, that is the proportion between breaking up the oxide layer and fusing into the material.
The second group of tasks is thin walled parts in stainless steel run with a fast pulse. The direct current pulse reaches 2000 Hz, such a frequency narrows and stiffens the arc, so you put in less heat and distort the sheet less. The alternating current pulse works up to 100 Hz. The panel saves 9 programs, has a cycle sequencer, a Bi-Level function and spot welding, so you make repeated parts with the same parameters.
The third group is the covered electrode. The MMA mode has two characteristics: Soft for rutile and low hydrogen electrodes, for example 7018, and Crisp for cellulose electrodes, for example 6010, where the arc has to be dynamic and the welding goes in forced positions. The manufacturer aimed the machine at plants welding aluminium, at operators working on very thin parts, at production with pulse and at companies that need work on a single phase or three phase supply.
Features and equipment
- TIG AC with a choice of wave shape: Square, Soft, Sine and Triangular change the hardness and the loudness of the arc and the way the oxides are cleaned on aluminium.
- Alternating current frequency from 40 to 400 Hz: a higher frequency gathers the arc into a narrow column and orders the pool on thin material.
- AC Balance: you set the share of the negative and the positive half wave, that is you balance the fusion into the material against the breaking up of the oxide layer.
- TIG DC pulse from 0.1 to 2000 Hz: a fast pulse steadies and narrows the arc and lowers the amount of heat put into the sheet.
- TIG AC pulse from 0.1 to 100 Hz: a slower rhythm of impulses for leading the pool on aluminium.
- Memory of 9 programs: you save the procedures and call them up for a given part without setting the parameters again.
- Full TIG sequencer: gas flow before welding, start current, slope up, working current, slope down, end current and gas flow after welding.
- Bi-Level: a step change between two currents during one strike, without putting the arc out, for parts of varying thickness.
- Spot welding: a repeatable point measured out by time.
- MMA Soft and Crisp mode: the first characteristic lays a gentle arc for rutile and low hydrogen electrodes, the second holds the arc of cellulose electrodes.
- PFC module and a supply from 230 to 400 V: the machine works from a single phase and a three phase mains, the power factor correction orders the current draw.

What to watch out for
The supply works from 230 to 400 V with a tolerance of 15%, and the product sheet gives 400 V, so confirm the configuration of the connection before you buy. In single phase work and at the highest currents you need a strong fuse on the circuit, because the draw from one phase grows. The duty cycle is 300 A at 35%, 240 A at 60% and 200 A at 100%, so at the full current you weld three and a half minutes in a ten minute window. The open circuit voltage is 90 V.
The torch in the set is liquid cooled, you add a cooler and fluid to the station, and before the first pass you check the flow. The torch is about 8 m, the earth 4 m, which gives reach around the part at the cost of the stiffness of the cable bundle. The power source weighs 42 kg and measures 535 x 301 x 632 mm, take a trolley to move it.
How we sell used machines
This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
