The Lincoln Electric Power Wave 455 is a MIG/MAG welder with pulse and synergy, liquid cooled. The description gives a welding range from 3 to 570 A and 500 A at a 60% duty cycle and 400 A at a 100% duty cycle.
What this machine is for
This is a power source with a large current reserve, for steel structures, frames and tanks. At a 100% duty cycle it holds 400 A, so you weld with it through a whole shift, and at a 60% duty cycle you have 500 A. The range goes down to 3 A, so with the same power source you come to thin sheet, if you match the wire and the gas.
The memory holds programs for welding different metals, so after a change of wire and gas you move from mild steel to stainless or to aluminium without setting the parameters by hand. The pulse detaches the droplet in time with the current and limits spatter, and synergy matches the voltage to the wire feed speed. The wire is pulled by a four roll drive.

What to watch out for
The supply is 400 V, and at a current of about 500 A the installation has to be an industrial one, the description gives no fuse rating. To work you need a sound cooler: check the coolant, the pump and the flow through the hoses before the first weld. The torch in the set is rated for 500 A, that is below the top of the range, so at the highest currents work in shorter runs. The torch is 4 m and the earth cable 3 m, so on larger structures work out the reach. The description gives no weight and no dimensions, so arrange the transport before collection.

This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
