Description

About this machine

The Lorch V24 is a TIG AC/DC power source with pulse, gas cooled. The description gives 240 A at a 60% duty cycle and 210 A at a 100% duty cycle. The supply is 400 V, and the set holds a foot pedal with stepless current control.

What this machine is for

This is a TIG power source for both types of current. With alternating current you weld aluminium and its alloys, with direct current stainless and structural steel. A cycle of 210 A at 100% means work with no time limit at a current that covers most workshop jobs, and you hold the full 240 A for six minutes in ten.

The machine has different current characteristics, so you match the arc to the material and to the wall thickness. Pulse adds control over the amount of heat. You configure the whole welding path separately, from current rise to crater filling.

The set holds a foot pedal with stepless current control. You change the current while you weld, without taking your hands off the part. The description points out that such control suited air conditioning installations, where thin pipes are joined.

Features and equipment

  • TIG on alternating and direct current, aluminium and stainless and structural steels.
  • Different current characteristics to match the arc to the material.
  • Pulse, control of the amount of heat in thin walls.
  • Configuration of the full welding path.
  • Foot pedal with stepless current control while you weld.
  • Gas cooling.

Technical data

Brand Lorch
Process TIG AC/DC with pulse
Current type AC/DC
Welding current 240 A at a 60% duty cycle, 210 A at a 100% duty cycle
Supply voltage 400 V
Cooling gas

What you get

  • TIG torch 4 m, silicone cable
  • Earth clamp 3 m
  • Supply cable 4 m

What to watch out for

The supply is 400 V, that is a power circuit at the station. Gas cooling means that in long welding at a high current it is the torch, not the power source, that sets the pace of work. The torch is 4 m long, so when you work around a large part you move the machine.

The product card puts the machine in the range up to 300 A, while the description gives 240 A at a 60% duty cycle, so go by the description. The description does not give the weight or the dimensions.
