Migatronic Omega Mini 270 is a compact MIG/MAG inverter for a 3 x 400 V supply. You set the current from 15 to 270 A, at 160 A the machine runs at a 100% duty cycle, and the whole unit weighs 18 kg. The Advanced panel runs on synergic programs.
What this machine is for
This is a power source for a mobile workshop and site service. A weight of 18 kg at dimensions of 610 x 250 x 450 mm fits in a van together with a cylinder, and reversed polarity lets you work with self shielded wire, that is weld without gas where the wind blows the shielding away. The description lists carbon, stainless and galvanised steel and thin to medium sheet.
The duty cycle at 40°C works out like this: 160 A at 100%, 180 A at 60%, and the full 270 A at 22%. At the lower settings the machine carries on without breaks, at the upper ones you will make short, strong beads and let it cool. With an adapter added you also weld with a covered electrode up to 4 mm diameter, which comes in useful for repairs in places where you cannot pull a feeder in.
Features and equipment
- Advanced panel with synergic programs, which set the parameters after you point to the wire, gas and material.
- DUO Plus, digital arc control that lays an even face close in look to a TIG weld.
- Reversed polarity for work with self shielded wire, without a gas cylinder.
- Four roll wire feeder, steady feeding at various diameters.
- Room for a 5 kg spool of 200 mm diameter in a compact housing.
- Power draw in standby at the level of 30 W.
- IGC as an option, intelligent shielding gas control.
- MMA work after adding an adapter, handling electrodes up to 4 mm.
- Software update by SD card.
- MIG-A Twist as an option, a torch with current adjustment on the handle.

What to watch out for
The supply is 3 x 400 V with a tolerance of 15% and 50/60 Hz, a slow blow 10 A fuse, maximum draw 13.2 A. The record gives gas cooling, so you pick a torch without a liquid circuit. A 5 kg spool means more frequent wire changes.
The MIG-A Twist torch, a trolley, the MMA adapter and the self shielded wire set are separate accessories. At 270 A the duty cycle drops to 22%, so plan breaks on thicker material.
