The Paton Standard-350 400V inverter MMA welder is made for efficient welding with covered electrodes by the MMA process on direct current (DC). The ECO series welder was designed for users who want a practical machine with a compact build and its full rated current of 350A.

This series is aimed at demanding users who look for a sensible compromise between mobility and what the machine can do, at a rated current of 350 A with a duty cycle of no less than 70%, which handles most jobs done around a property (farms, small home based businesses and so on). These machines have programmed current control. Welders in this series are easy to use, because all the modern extra functions such as Hot-Start, Arc-Force and Anti-Stick are preset to the values needed for typical welding work.

The Hot-Start function gives a first class start of the weld and a clean ignition: at the moment the arc is struck, for a short time the working welding current rises from the set working level to the optimum level. In some cases (when working on a weak mains supply or on a generator) this level can be set by hand if the machine has the matching switch (as in the "Professional" series). Lowering "Hot-Start" to reduce the draw from a weak mains supply, or raising it on a strong supply, makes ignition much easier.

The Arc-Force function is used to improve arc stability on a short arc and to stop the electrode "sticking". When a drop of metal separates from the electrode, the current is raised automatically to a certain level if the machine has the matching switch (as in the "Professional" series). By lowering the "arc force" to reduce the draw from a weak mains supply, or raising it on a strong supply, arc stability is improved further still.

The Anti-Stick function lets the welder separate the electrode from the workpiece easily. If a short circuit occurs, the welding current is reduced automatically after a short pause. Once the electrode is clear of the workpiece, the power source returns to normal operation by itself.

Thanks to a solid, compact design, ECO series welders do well on site and in semi-industrial conditions. The small dimensions make the welder easy to move around. PATON™ welders have a stabilising system, so they can be powered from a generator set.
