Weco Cruiser 322 AC/DC is a three phase TIG AC/DC inverter with an MMA mode, supplied from a 3 x 400 V mains. You set the TIG current from 5 to 320 A, at a 45% duty cycle the machine gives 320 A, and in continuous work 240 A. The price includes a used TIG torch 8 m long rated 320 A and an earth cable 4 m.
What this machine is for
With direct current you weld black, stainless and acid resistant steel, and also titanium and copper. Control from 5 A lets you join thin tubes and small parts, where control over the heat counts, and the upper 320 A handles massive flanges and thicker joints. With alternating current you work on aluminium, magnesium and their alloys, where the arc first has to break up the oxide layer with its high melting point. On top of that comes the MMA mode in the range from 10 to 300 A, with voltage profiles for cellulose, basic and CrNi coatings.
Aluminium is served here with particular care. Beyond the balance and the AC frequency you change the shape of the wave: the sine gives a soft and quiet arc, the triangle limits the heat laid into sheet, and the square switches on sharp dynamics and fast changes of direction, useful for fast fusion. Extra Fusion narrows the arc in AC mode and protects the tungsten tip against rounding, so the weld on aluminium pipes is narrow and the travel faster. Mix AC/DC interleaves phases of steady penetration with AC cleaning intervals, which helps to fill thick joints in cold aluminium.
The third group of functions is about dosing the heat. The pulse reaches 2500 Hz and squeezes the arc into a narrow column, saving thin stainless parts from burning through and discolouring, and the synergic pulse picks the times, the frequency and the background current itself once you set the peak current. Multi-Tack tacks with a series of short hits separated by pauses without current, so stainless sheet does not ripple, and Q-Spot makes a single impulse in a time from 0.01 to 10 s for spot joining of flat blanks without filler. The manufacturer aimed this machine at fitters of large structures, at plants working aluminium, at processing of thin walled pipelines and at teams that care about repeatability.
Features and equipment
- TIG current range from 5 to 320 A and MMA from 10 to 300 A: one machine handles delicate parts and massive joints.
- TIG duty cycle 320 A at 45% and 240 A at 100%: a high current for continuous work without breaks for cooling.
- TIG pulse up to 2500 Hz: the arc narrows to a needle form and limits the spread of heat on thin parts.
- Synergic pulse: once you set the peak current the algorithm picks the frequency, the times and the background current.
- HF ignition: a start without contact, without tungsten inclusions in the weld and without damaging the tip of the electrode.
- Lift-Arc ignition: a start by touching and lifting the electrode, for places sensitive to high frequency disturbance.
- Mix AC/DC: interleaving of penetration phases on direct current with cleaning intervals on alternating current, for thick aluminium joints.
- Extra Fusion: narrowing of the arc in AC mode and protection of the tungsten tip against rounding, a narrower weld and faster travel on aluminium pipes.
- Alternating current balance: a shift towards the positive half waves cleans the surface at the cost of the electrode, towards the negative ones it raises the penetration and protects the tungsten.
- AC frequency control: lower values flatten the arc on large joints and castings, higher ones concentrate it on edges and notches.
- Change of the AC wave shape: sine for a soft and quiet arc, triangle to limit the heat on sheet, square for sharp dynamics.
- Multi-Tack: tacking with a series of short hits with pauses without current, stainless sheet does not ripple or buckle.
- Q-Spot: a single impulse in a time from 0.01 to 10 s for spot joining of blanks without filler wire.
- Q-Start: a starting boost triggered for a time from 0.1 to 60 s, it melts the oxide edges and makes it easier to close an uneven gap.
- Dynamic Arc: the circuit measures the arc voltage and corrects the current when the torch moves away or closer, so the pool holds its shape.
- 2T, 4T and 4T Bi-Level modes: two step for points, four step for long welds, and Bi-Level switches to the background current and back during work without losing the gas shield.
- Memory of 50 JOB programs: you save the settings of the pulse, of Multi-Tack or of Mix AC/DC and load them in a second.
- VRD circuit: the idle voltage of 72 V drops to 11 V, which lets you work in damp wells and shipyard ducts.
- Housing rated IP23: the build takes the dust of assembly halls.

What to watch out for
The supply is 3 x 400 V with a tolerance of 15% at 50 to 60 Hz, with a 25 A mains fuse. The TIG duty cycle is 320 A at 45% and 240 A at 100%, so on long welds the real value is 240 A. The open circuit voltage is 72 V, and the VRD circuit drops it to 11 V, which matters when you work in damp. The housing has protection rating IP23, that is work in a hall and under a roof.
The torch in the set is liquid cooled, so add a cooler to the station and check whether its output suits a current of 320 A. The torch is used, and it is worth looking at its state and at the run of the insulation along its whole eight metre length on collection. The power source weighs 46.4 kg with dimensions of 690 x 290 x 450 mm, two people will carry it, but a trolley is easier. The extensive menu with fifty programs needs a moment to train the operator, but once saved a program comes back with one move. A balance shifted far towards cleaning wears the tungsten electrode faster, so on long series on aluminium reckon with more frequent changes.
How we sell used machines
This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
