Materials and construction
The beanie is made of 305 g/m² flame-retardant cotton, the same material Weldas uses in its Fire Fox™ jackets and trousers. The dense weave provides an effective basic barrier against stray sparks and spatter. A key construction detail that shows the quality of the product is the 3-ply twisted KEVLAR® thread. It ensures that the seams will not burn through or tear under high temperature. The fitted beanie cut does not just look good: above all it has a practical job. It forms a soft, comfortable layer between the hard helmet headgear and the scalp and absorbs sweat, which makes work noticeably more comfortable.
Safety and certification
The 23-8000 beanie plays a key role in the welder's protection system. The material it is made of is certified by TÜV to EN ISO 11611:2015, Class 1/A1+A2. This means the fabric has been tested for limited flame spread. Worn under a welding helmet, the beanie is an additional, important barrier that protects the scalp and hair from UV radiation and from sparks that can get into the gaps between the headgear and the helmet shell.
