The COOL FR™ line is a specialised protective clothing system designed for maximum comfort when you work at high temperatures. The 31-1980 balaclava is made of an innovative flame-retardant cotton fabric with a weight of 9 oz. (approx. 255 g/m²). It is one of the lightest materials in the Weldas range, which translates directly into thermal comfort. The name “COOL” refers to the passive properties, low weight and high vapour permeability of the material, which help carry heat and moisture away from the skin. The cut of the balaclava has been optimised for ergonomics, so it sits close to the head without restricting movement or causing discomfort during long hours under a welding helmet.
Safety and Certification
The COOL FR™ balaclava meets the strict requirements of European standards, as confirmed by the independent certification body TÜV.
EN ISO 11612 (protection against heat and flame): Ensures that the material protects against brief contact with flame and against convective and radiant heat, which is essential for the welder’s safety.
EN 1149-5 (antistatic properties): A critical feature for workers in potentially explosive atmospheres (e.g. ATEX zones). The balaclava prevents the build-up of electrostatic charges and minimises the risk of an ignition spark.
