ESAB Aristo Mig 5000iw with an Aristo Feed 4804 feeder and an Aristo U8 digital panel is an industrial MIG/MAG welder on an inverter with a CAN bus, with an integrated liquid cooler of about 2.0 kW. The source gives 500 A at 39 V and a 60% duty cycle and 400 A at 34 V in continuous 100% work. Supply is 3 x 400 V at 50/60 Hz, and the interconnection cable is about 10 m.
What this machine is for
This is a source for multi shift production: heavy steel structures, semi trailers, frames and machines. A load of 400 A at a continuous 100% duty cycle lets you weld thick plate and sections without technological breaks, and the MIG/MAG range covers settings from about 16 A at 15 V to 500 A at 39 V. On top of that comes MMA stick welding in a range from about 16 A to 500 A and air carbon arc gouging with a carbon electrode, which helps when you remove weld defects and repair heavy structures, once a torch is fitted.
What sets the Aristo U8 panel apart is the Aristo SuperPulse process. The controller switches two sets of parameters in turn, the primary and the secondary phase, for example a hotter pulse for penetration and a cooler one for freezing. The pool partly freezes in the cooler phase, so you weld in forced positions without the metal running, you control the penetration at a changing assembly gap and you lay an even bead on aluminium alloys and stainless steel. Classic MIG/MAG Pulse stays available separately and detaches droplets with a current pulse without short circuits, which improves how the weld looks on stainless steel.
The Aristo Feed 4804 feeder with a four roll drive was built for high filler use: it pulls wire from spools and from Marathon Pac industrial drums of 250 kg, so stops to change material disappear. It carries wires from 0.6 mm to 2.4 mm at a speed from 0.8 m/min to 25 m/min, including flux cored, rutile and metal cored ones. The set includes an ESAB RA23 remote control adapter with the number 0459491911, for analogue MIG/MAG remotes and the RS3 three program switch at the station.
Features and equipment
- Inverter source of 500 A with a CAN bus: the output parameters hold at a continuous load of 400 A, so a long weld on a thick part has an even penetration from start to finish.
- Aristo SuperPulse: alternate switching of two sets of settings, for example Pulse with Pulse or Pulse with a short arc, for forced positions, changing gaps and control of the root penetration.
- MIG/MAG Pulse: the droplet detaches with a current pulse without short circuits, so metal transfer is of a spray type at a lower average current and there is practically no spatter.
- A base of synergic lines and a standard mode: you pick the material, the gas and the wire, or you run the process by hand.
- Aristo U8 panel with a screen and a CompactFlash card reader: up to 255 memory cells for complete WPS programs, production statistics and arc time, and the card moves settings between stations.
- Aristo Feed 4804 feeder with four driven rolls: a rating of 500 A at a 60% duty cycle, the pressure spread over a larger area, so aluminium and flux cored wires do not deform.
- Wire feeding from Marathon Pac drums of 250 kg: once a guide is fitted at the back of the housing the feeder pulls filler without breaks to change a spool.
- Integrated liquid cooler of about 2.0 kW at 50 Hz, a pressure of about 3.2 bar and a tank of about 5.5 l: it takes the heat away from the torch at full load.
- ESAB LogicPump system (ELP): the pump starts once a liquid cooled torch is detected and only during work, which protects it from running dry and makes the station quieter during breaks.
- Creep Start and adjustable Hot Start: the wire comes out more slowly until the strike and does not hit a cold part, and raised parameters at the start give a proper penetration.
- ESAB RA23 adapter with the number 0459491911: it plugs analogue remotes for voltage and feed correction and the RS3 program switch into the CAN bus.
- MMA process and Carbon Arc Gouging: one source welds with stick electrodes and takes out a faulty weld with a carbon electrode.

What to watch out for
The machine needs a 3 x 400 V mains at 50/60 Hz, and the input current reaches from about 36 A to 37 A at the peak and from about 27 A to 28 A effective, so size the circuit and the fuse for those values. The cooler has a power of about 2.0 kW at 50 Hz, a pressure of about 3.2 bar and a tank of about 5.5 l, so check the level and the cleanliness of the fluid before the first shift, because at 400 A of continuous work the torch will not stand without circulation. The open circuit voltage reaches about 88 V in MIG/MAG, which in tight and damp spaces calls for keeping the safety rules for industrial sources.
The list of the set has no welding torch, no earth cable and no supply cable, so count these items separately when you plan the budget, and choose a torch for work at a current up to 500 A. Aluminium calls for confirming the activation, U type rolls and a PTFE liner, and gouging for fitting a torch for a carbon electrode. The RA23 adapter handles analogue remotes and the RS3 switch, that is station control, not a robot communication module. This is the Mig 5000iw version, not U5000iw, that is without a full TIG DC module with HF ignition.
How we sell used machines
This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
