The EWM Phoenix 551 Expert pulse is an inverter MIG/MAG welder for a 400 V supply, liquid cooled. The source gives 550 A at a 60% duty cycle and 420 A at a continuous 100% load. Besides pulse and double pulse it has the special processes Force Arc and RootArc.
What this machine is for
This is a power source for the heaviest welds. At 420 A it works without stopping, and the peak of 550 A at a 60% cycle stays for thick sections, hard facing and cored wires.
The basic processes are synergy, pulse and double pulse, which lays a regular ripple on aluminium and on acid resistant steel. Force Arc is a focused, hard arc with high pressure that goes deep into a narrow bevel and holds the penetration at a long wire stick out. RootArc orders the short circuit phase when you lay the root run with full penetration through, without a ceramic backing.

What to watch out for
The supply is a 400 V mains, and match the power circuit to work at 550 A. The torch is rated 500 A, that is less than the peak of the source, so at the highest settings watch the working time. The cooler needs fluid with frost protection, so before you start check the level, the flow and the tightness of the quick couplings.
The set is heavy and split into modules, and the card gives no weight and no dimensions, so plan the transport and the way into the bay in advance.
How we sell used machines
This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
