ESAB Aristo Mig 4000iw with an AristoFeed 48-4 feeder and an MA6 digital panel is an industrial MIG/MAG welder on an inverter with a CAN bus, with an integrated liquid cooler of about 2.5 kW. The source gives 400 A at 34 V and a 35% duty cycle, 320 A at 30 V and a 60% duty cycle and 250 A at 27 V in continuous 100% work. Supply is 3 x 400 V with a 10% tolerance at 50/60 Hz, and the interconnection package is about 10 m.
What this machine is for
The machine handles standard, synergic and pulsed MIG/MAG and MMA stick welding up to 400 A. The MIG/MAG range covers settings from 20 A at 15 V to 400 A at 34 V, and MMA from 16 A at 21 V to 400 A at 36 V. The pulse detaches the droplet with a current pulse without micro short circuits, so on stainless steel there is practically no spatter, and metal transfer is of a spray type at a lower heat input, which limits burn through on thin parts and shortens the grinding after welding.
The MA6 panel has 33 built in synergic lines for Fe carbon steel, Ss stainless steel and AlMg and AlSi aluminium. You point to the material, the shielding gas and the wire diameter, and the circuit sets the relation of feed speed to arc voltage itself. On top of that come ten memory cells and limits for the operator, which hold the parameters within the WPS welding procedure. The machine goes to welding shops that need repeatable welds and one station for several materials.
An interconnection cable of about 10 m leaves the source at a fixed point of the workshop, and you move with the feeder along structures, frames, semi trailers and machine parts. The four roll AristoFeed 48-4 drive carries wires from 0.6 mm to 2.4 mm at a speed from 0.8 m/min to 25 m/min, copes with flux cored and metal cored wires without crushing the core, and takes filler from 300 mm spools, optionally 440 mm, or straight from Marathon Pac industrial drums once a guide is fitted.
Features and equipment
- Inverter source on a CAN bus: the reaction to changes in the pool is instant, the efficiency is higher than in a transformer, and the weight of the source with the cooler is about 79.5 kg instead of several hundred.
- MIG/MAG Pulse welding: the droplet detaches with a current pulse without micro short circuits, so a weld on stainless steel and aluminium comes out without spatter.
- 33 synergic lines of the MA6 panel for Fe, Ss and AlMg and AlSi: after you point to the material, the gas and the wire diameter, the circuit sets the relation of feed speed to voltage.
- Ten program memory cells: you save a full set of settings with synergy, pulse, current, gas and crater parameters, so the stations work the same way.
- Minimum and maximum limits and a panel lock: the operator stays within the WPS welding procedure.
- AristoFeed 48-4 four roll feeder, liquid cooled: a rating of 500 A at a 60% duty cycle, two drive rolls and two pressure rolls spread the force so that soft and flux cored wires do not deform.
- Electronic monitoring of the feeder motor: at a fault the feed stops and the drive is protected.
- Crater Fill from 0 s to 5 s: the parameters fall at the end of the bead, so crater cracks and porosity disappear.
- Burn-back adjustment from 0 s to 0.35 s: the wire does not stick to the freezing weld, and the arc does not strike inside the contact tip.
- Creep Start: the wire feed speed drops to about 50% of the working value before the strike, so the wire does not bounce off a cold part.
- Hot Start in MIG/MAG with adjustment from 0 s to 10 s: the parameters rise at the start of the bead, which removes lack of fusion at the beginning of the weld.
- MMA process up to 400 A with Hot Start and Arc Force: the electrode starts more surely, and the dynamics adjustment guards against sticking.
- Modes 2T and 4T and spot welding with a time from 0.1 s to 25 s: in 4T the sequence covers gas pre flow, Crater Fill and gas post flow.
- Integrated cooler of about 2.5 kW, a flow of about 2.0 l/min and a pressure from 2.5 bar to 3 bar: it takes the heat away from the torch also at maximum parameters.

What to watch out for
The machine needs a 3 x 400 V mains with a 10% tolerance at 50/60 Hz, and the input current reaches 38 A at the peak and 22 A effective, so size the circuit for those values. Plan the duty cycle by the documentation: you get 400 A only at 35%, at 60% there is 320 A left, and without breaks the machine gives 250 A. The cooler has a power of about 2.5 kW, a flow of about 2.0 l/min and a pressure from 2.5 bar to 3 bar, so check the level and the cleanliness of the fluid before the shift.
Aluminium calls for confirming that the line is active, for rolls with a U groove and a PTFE liner in the torch, because the pulse alone will not carry soft wire through 4 m of cable. Air carbon arc gouging is listed as possible after fitting a torch and after checking the activation, so do not take it for granted. This is the Mig 4000iw version, not U4000iw, that is without a full TIG DC section. The source with the cooler weighs about 79.5 kg, you carry it with two people, and on the trolley you roll it together with the cylinder.
How we sell used machines
This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
