The EWM Phoenix 351 is an inverter MIG/MAG welder with liquid cooling, for a 400 V supply. The power source gives 350 A at a 100% duty cycle, so it welds without breaks for cooling. The machine has synergy, pulse and double pulse.
What this machine is for
This is a power source for a workshop that welds structural and alloy steel through the whole shift. A current of 350 A at a continuous 100% load means that on fillet and multi run welds you do not watch for cooling breaks. Synergic control matches the arc voltage to the wire feed speed, so you set the parameters with one knob.
Pulse tears the drops off in the rhythm of the impulses, so you get less spatter and less heat in the part. Double pulse adds a slower modulation and lays an even ripple. Plants that weld aluminium and thin acid resistant sheet reach for such a power source.

What to watch out for
The machine needs a 400 V power socket and a three phase circuit. Before the start check the coolant level, the flow and the tightness of the quick couplings, because running dry destroys the pump and the torch. The torch is 4 m long, the earth cable about 3 m and the supply cable 3 m, so further from the switchboard add a power extension lead. The card does not give the weight or the dimensions.
