The EWM Phoenix 300 is a liquid cooled inverter multiprocess power source up to 300 A. You weld MIG/MAG with pulse, and after a changeover also TIG and with covered electrodes. The efficiency of the inverter reaches about 90%.
What this machine is for
A current up to 300 A covers the usual workshop jobs: steel structures, stainless steel and aluminium. The machine has synergic programs for braze welding with CuSi3 wire on galvanised sheet, that is the process used on body repairs and thin coated sheet, where you do not want to burn off the zinc coating.
This is a power source for a workshop that changes material within one shift. Pulse and SuperPuls give a cap laid in ripples, close to a TIG weld, at the output of wire welding. An inverter efficiency of about 90% means a lower draw than in old transformer MIG welders and a stable arc when the mains voltage drops.
Features and equipment
- forceArc, that is a focused arc with high plasma pressure. You weld thick plate at a smaller groove angle, so you use less wire and gas, and the heat affected zone is narrower.
- rootArc for root runs and for work on wide gaps. The soft, short arc bridges the gaps between plates, which helps on pipes and where the root cannot be backed.
- Pulse and SuperPuls. SuperPuls switches the work back and forth between two setting points, for example between pulse and the background current, and lays the cap in ripples.
- Job-Mode with memory for 100 welding jobs.
- Dynamics control, that is stepless correction of the arc characteristic from soft to hard.
- A 7 pole socket for Up/Down torches and remote control.
- A 4 roller wire feeder with a 37 mm drive, which holds a steady wire feed also with long cable packages.
- Synergic programs for braze welding with CuSi3 wire.

What to watch out for
The supply is 400 V. Cooling works on liquid, so before you start check the level in the tank, the flow and the tightness of the torch quick couplings. The record does not list any equipment in the set, so confirm the torch, the earth cable and the interconnection cable before you buy. It gives no duty cycle, no weight and no dimensions, so arrange transport before collection.
A current up to 300 A sets the limit on material thickness, and for heavier structures you need a stronger power source.
How we sell used machines
This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
