Description

About this machine

EWM Phoenix 300 Expert M3.10 is an inverter MIG/MAG power source with pulse which holds 300 A in a 100% duty cycle. You set the current from 5 to 300 A, the open circuit voltage is 80 V, and the supply is 400 V. The M3.10 panel runs synergic welding, pulse, SuperPuls and the forceArc process.

What this machine is for

A full 300 A in a 100% duty cycle is a parameter for continuous work, not for short beads. The machine goes to series production of steel structures, to welding aluminium in the transport industry and to workshops running three shifts. The adjustment range from 5 A also covers thin sheet, where control over the amount of heat counts.

forceArc narrows the arc column and raises the plasma pressure, so penetration is deeper than with a normal spray arc. In practice you reduce the bevel angle of the edges and the heat input, and with them the distortion and the heat affected zone in high strength steels. Pulse and SuperPuls order metal transfer: pulse limits spatter and tidies the ignition, and SuperPuls switches parameters cyclically and lays a face close to a TIG bead, which shows on aluminium and on stainless steel.

The M3.10 panel works on current and voltage characteristics and makes up for voltage drops, so the weld geometry does not change with a change of the free wire stick out or when welding out of position. The program set holds synergic lines for CuSi3 wire, that is braze welding of galvanised sheet with the least damage to the zinc coating.

Features and equipment

  • forceArc: a focused arc with high plasma pressure for deep penetration, with a smaller bevel angle and lower heat input.
  • Pulse and SuperPuls: metal transfer without spatter and a cyclic change of parameters, giving an even, rippled face.
  • Synergy on the M3.10 panel: you choose material, gas and wire diameter, and the system picks the characteristic.
  • Compensation of voltage drops: the system reacts to a change of the free wire stick out and holds a constant weld geometry.
  • 4 roll EWM Drive feeder: it guides soft AlMg and AlSi wires without deforming them and without slip at high feed speeds.
  • Synergic lines for CuSi3 wire: braze welding of galvanised sheet.
  • Control of the gas pre flow and post flow time and a wire burn back function, which protects the wire from sticking to the crater.
  • IGBT power modules with separated cooling channels in a Tunnel Design housing: the electronics are kept apart from the air stream with metal dust.

What to watch out for

To use the full 300 A in a 100% duty cycle prepare a circuit with a 32 A fuse, and with thinner material the machine runs steadily on 16 A or 20 A. The open circuit voltage of 80 V matters when working in conditions of raised electric shock hazard. The torch is gas cooled, so with long welds at high current it is the torch, not the source, that limits the pace of work. The cooling channels are kept apart from the electronics, but the filter and the inside still need blowing out from time to time in a workshop with a lot of dust.

Before you buy settle the set of rolls for the diameter and the type of wire, and with aluminium also the guide liner. Ask as well which torch and earth cable belong to this item, because the load capacity of the torch has to match the current you mean to weld with.

How we sell used machines

This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
