The Fronius T.I.M.E Synergic 450 is an inverter MIG/MAG welder with digital synergic control and MIG braze welding. The maximum current is 450 A at a 60% duty cycle, and in continuous work at 100% the machine holds 360 A. The supply is 3 x 400 V, the cooling is run by an integrated Fronius cooler, and the wire is fed by an external four roll feeder.
What this machine is for
This is one of the first digital MIG/MAG welders, built on the same platform as the TransPuls Synergic series. In the synergic mode you pick the type and the diameter of the wire and the gas, and the machine sets the rest of the parameters from the factory programs. That shortens the start of work and limits mistakes in the setup, also when a less experienced operator runs the station. Digital arc control and starting programs help with material that is hard to strike.
The documentation names mild steel, stainless steels in the CrNi and V2A grades and aluminium. MIG braze welding with CuSi wire stands apart: with it you join galvanised sheet at a low heat input, so the anti corrosion coating stays in place. This is a process used in panel work and in body repairs, where a burnt off galvanised coating means corrosion after a few months.
The build is industrial: a powder coated housing, a dust tight electronics chamber and a heavy transport trolley. A current of 360 A at a 100% duty cycle means the station works through a whole shift without breaks for cooling, and liquid cooling keeps the torch in check under that load.
Features and equipment
- Digital synergic control: you point out the wire, its diameter and the gas, and the factory program sets the welding parameters.
- Maximum current 450 A at a 60% duty cycle and 360 A at a 100% duty cycle: a reserve for thick welds and a high current in continuous work.
- Welding mild and stainless steel in the CrNi and V2A grades: one power source covers the typical range of a structural plant.
- Welding aluminium: digital arc control and starting programs steady the process on material sensitive to striking.
- MIG braze welding with CuSi wire: joining galvanised sheet at a low heat input, with the anti corrosion coating kept.
- Integrated Fronius liquid cooler: it takes the heat from the torch in continuous work at a high current.
- External four roll feeder: an even pressure on four rolls keeps the feed also with soft wires and long torches.
- Dust tight electronics chamber and a powder coated housing: a build made for dust and hard hall conditions.
- Heavy transport trolley: you roll the whole station in one piece.

What to watch out for
The supply is 3 x 400 V, so the station needs a power connection. The cooler is integrated with the power source, check the state of the fluid, the pump and the tightness of the quick couplings, because a liquid cooled torch with an empty circuit you damage at once. The wire feeder is external and four roll, so for transport you have the power source, the feeder and the cable package separately, and the interconnection cable has to be kept from being run over.
The description does not name a torch or an earth cable, ask about the contents of the set before you buy. CuSi braze welding and aluminium need different rolls and a different liner than steel, pick them for the wire diameter. Full use of the synergy calls for sticking to the wires and the gases the factory programs are made for.
How we sell used machines
This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
