Fronius TPS 2700 CMT is a MIG/MAG power source with the Cold Metal Transfer process, liquid cooled. You set the current from 3 to 270 A, at a 100% duty cycle the machine gives 190 A, and it weighs 32.5 kg.
What this machine is for
CMT, that is Cold Metal Transfer, is a process with a very small heat input. The wire retracts at the moment of the short circuit, the droplet passes into the pool almost without spatter, and the material around the weld heats up less than with a classic MIG/MAG. Thanks to that you join thin sheet without burn through and materials with different thermal conductivity, for example steel with aluminium.
The range from 3 to 270 A covers thin walled parts and typical workshop joints. The load capacity is 270 A at a 40% duty cycle, 220 A at 60% and 190 A at 100%, so plan continuous work up to 190 A. Such a source is taken by a workshop making thin walled parts, sheet metal repairs and items where the absence of distortion counts.
Beyond CMT you have a synergic mode and pulsed welding. Synergy picks the parameters for the material and the wire diameter, and pulse limits spatter with aluminium, copper and stainless steel. The control is digital, and you save the settings in the memory of the source, so you come back to them on the next job.

What to watch out for
The supply is 3 x 400 V, and the open circuit voltage is 57 V. The source weighs 32.5 kg at dimensions of 687 x 276 x 445 mm, so two people will carry it to the station, but with a feeder, a cooler and a trolley the set gets heavier. The torch is liquid cooled, so before the start check the fluid level, the flow and the tightness of the quick couplings.
You get 270 A at a 40% duty cycle, and in continuous work hold to 190 A, otherwise the thermal cut out will act. The CMT process needs matched equipment and wire, so settle the choice before the first job. The product card lists neither a torch nor cables, so ask about the equipment.
How we sell used machines
This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
