The Fronius TPS 2700 is a digital MIG/MAG welder with pulse, with an integrated wire feeder, for a 400 V three phase supply. You set the current from 3 A to 270 A, at a 40% duty cycle the power source gives 270 A, and in continuous work at 100% it gives 170 A. The power source weighs about 27 kg.
What this machine is for
This is a machine for plants where the look of the weld and the lack of spatter count. The setting from 3 A goes down to very thin parts, so you join sheet where a plain short arc burns the material through. The top of 270 A is enough for typical workshop thicknesses in mild steel and in high alloy steels. At 170 A the machine runs continuously, without breaks for cooling.
The base materials are mild steel, high alloy steels and aluminium alloys, and on top of that MIG braze welding of coated sheet. On aluminium and on acid resistant steel the pulse puts the metal transfer through the arc in order: the droplets come off one by one, so there is next to no spatter, and you control the amount of heat in the part by the setting. The source description says that work with such an arc cuts the cleaning costs after welding by 90%.
A weight of about 27 kg and the feeder in one housing with the power source make this set a machine for site work. A crew carries it up a floor or puts it in a van without taking it apart into modules, and at the station you set it up once and work. The maker aimed this model at metalwork shops, at the automotive sector and at firms making structures from aluminium and from stainless steel.
Features and equipment
- TransPulseSynergic system: the circuit reads the welding run and corrects the arc parameters many times a second, so the arc stays steady also with mains voltage swings and with a change of welding position.
- Synergic control: you set the material thickness and the machine picks the rest of the parameters itself, so setting up for another material takes a moment.
- Digital pulse: an ordered droplet detachment gives welding with next to no spatter on aluminium and on stainless steel.
- Built in wire drive with four rolls: four rolls feed the wire without slip, and that counts with soft aluminium filler.
- Feeder integrated in the housing of the power source: one block instead of a power source and a separate feeder on a trolley.
- Parameter memory: you call the settings up from the panel instead of setting them from scratch at every change of part.
- MIG braze welding: you join coated sheet at a lower temperature, without taking the coating off around the weld.

What to watch out for
The supply is a 400 V three phase mains, so you will not connect the machine to a single phase socket. The duty cycle falls with the current: you hold 270 A for 40% of the time, and you work without breaks at 170 A, so on long runs plan the setting for continuous work and not for the top value. The card gives a welding current up to 300 A, while the model documentation says 270 A, so when you pick the parameters stay with the lower value.
The card does not list a torch or cables in the set, so confirm the contents with us before you buy. A torch for work with liquid cooling is picked for the wire diameter and the length, and for aluminium you need a teflon liner and rolls for soft filler. Check the liquid circuit before the first strike: the coolant level, the flow and the tightness of the quick couplings. A weight of about 27 kg is still a size that two people carry, but with a gas cylinder and a trolley the set becomes heavy.
How we sell used machines
This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
