The Kemppi PS 3500 is an inverter TIG DC power source with a welding current up to 350 A and a function for welding with covered electrodes in MMA. Supply 400 V, three phase, liquid cooling. The set has an 18 m TIG lead.
What this machine is for
This is a power source for welding pipes and sheet in stainless steel and mild steel with a tungsten electrode under an inert gas shield. You strike without contact with the HF circuit or by contact in the Lift mode. A clean start with no touch of the electrode keeps the tungsten and the weld free of contamination, which counts on joints taken over by radiographic testing.
The second process is the covered electrode. You move to MMA where you cannot get in with a TIG torch or where the pace of filling counts. One power source therefore covers both the root run in the TIG method and the filling passes with an electrode.
The TIG lead is 18 m, so the power source stays in place and you go down with the torch to a pipeline, into a tank or onto a large steel frame. This is kit for assembly firms, repair plants, power generation and pipe prefabrication, where the joints go for inspection body approval.
Features and equipment
- TIG DC welding. Direct current takes stainless steel, mild steel and copper alloys, and the tungsten electrode does not melt in the arc.
- HF ignition. The arc starts without the electrode touching the material, so the tungsten and the start of the weld stay clean.
- Lift arc ignition. A contact start where controllers sensitive to interference stand nearby.
- MMA welding with covered electrodes. The same power module handles the electrode, so you do not need a second power source.
- An 18 m TIG lead. Reach without moving the power source when you work on pipelines.
- A modular build. Air circulation and access to the parts make service easier.
- Liquid cooling. The circuit takes heat from the torch, so you run long passes at high duty cycles.

What to watch out for
The supply is 400 V, three phase. The record gives DC as the current type, so for aluminium in the TIG method you need a power source with an AC mode, and that process is not here. Liquid cooling: check the fluid level, the work of the pump and the tightness of the circuit before the first strike. HF ignition can disturb the controllers of machines nearby, and then you use the Lift mode.
The record gives no duty cycle, no weight and no dimensions, so confirm them before transport. With an 18 m lead plan how you route the package so that it does not lie on sharp edges. The record does not list an MMA electrode holder or an earth cable, so add them to the budget.
How we sell used machines
This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
