The Selco Genesis 350 AC/DC is a digital TIG power source for aluminium, stainless steel and titanium. You set the current from 3 A to 350 A, and at 270 A the machine runs at a 100% duty cycle. The open circuit voltage is 80 V and the housing is rated IP23.
What this machine is for
This is a power source for heavy industry and for a workshop that works on light alloys. The range from 3 A to 350 A covers micro TIG on the thinnest parts and thick sections at the top settings. A cycle of 270 A at 100% at a temperature of 40°C means continuous work, with no breaks to cool the source.
The design rests on a full IGBT bridge with digital DSP control and a capacitor bank that buffers the energy. Thanks to this the arc stays stable also on a generator supply, and the voltage tolerance reaches 15%. The electronics are separated from the cooling tunnel, so metal dust does not travel onto the boards, which in a hall where machining is done tells on the life of the machine.
Features and equipment
- Waveform Shaping, a choice of the alternating current wave shape: square for deep penetration in thick aluminium, sine for a soft and quiet arc, triangular for thin sheet below 1.5 mm.
- Independent setting of the duration and the amplitude for the positive and the negative half wave, that is separate control of the oxide cleaning and of the penetration.
- MIX AC/DC, cyclic switching between alternating current and negative direct current in one process, the description gives a rise in welding speed from 30 to 50% against the classic AC mode.
- Fast Pulse, direct current pulsing up to 2.5 kHz, narrows and stiffens the arc on titanium and on acid resistant steels.
- Bi-Level, switching between two current levels with the button on the torch, useful on pipes and on a changing gap.
- Digital DSP control with synthesis of the current waveforms.
- Energy buffer in a capacitor bank, stable work with voltage swings up to 15%, also from a generator.
- Electronics separated from the cooling tunnel, protection against metal dust.

What to watch out for
The product card gives the brand as Böhler Welding, while the name and the maker description speak of Selco, so confirm the configuration before you buy. The supply is 400 V, the cooling is by liquid, and before you start you check the coolant level and the flow in the torch. The cooler is part of the station, so establish whether it comes with this unit.
The description does not list a TIG torch, an earth cable or a mains cable, so ask about the equipment before you buy. The weight is not given, so arrange transport before collection. The wide set of functions takes time to master: at every change of alloy you set the wave shape, the balance and the frequency from scratch, and it is these parameters that decide the result on aluminium.
How we sell used machines
This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
