Selco Genesis 502 GSM is an inverter MIG/MAG power source with pulse and a TIG HF module. You set the current from 6 to 500 A, at a 60% duty cycle the machine gives 500 A, and in continuous work 400 A. The arc voltage runs from 15 to 39 V, the wire is guided by a four roll feeder, and the set holds a 4 m torch and a copper earth cable 5 m long.
In the 500 A class, the Genesis has been succeeded by the URANOS NX 5000 GSM (the site is in Polish).
What this machine is for
A current of 400 A held without breaks is the parameter that decides what this machine is for: many hours of welding at high currents with no pauses for cooling. The maker aimed it at heavy industry, shipyards and plants building large steel and aluminium structures. The GSM system, described by the maker as Green at Wave, orders the arc and limits spatter, which with larger wire diameters translates directly into less grinding after welding.
MIG/MAG pulse control and stepless inductance adjustment give you control over heat input. On high alloy steels and aluminium, which take overheating badly, you can enter the material softly and get even penetration without undercut at the edges. The four roll feeder guides the wire evenly also with torches 5 m long, where friction in the liner can make the arc unsteady, and the spot and interval modes automate repeated actions at the station.
The TIG module with contactless HF ignition and full pulse stands apart. On a source this large it is a rare pairing: from heavy structural welding you move to precise joining of pipelines and thin walled parts in acid resistant stainless steel. In TIG mode you have two step and four step operation plus adjustment of gas post flow time and current slope up.

What to watch out for
The supply is 400 V and the fuse 30 A, so check the connection before you set up the station. The duty cycle is 500 A at 60% and 400 A at 100%, which is a high result for this class and lets you plan work around 400 A. The product card states liquid cooling, so before start up check the cooler, the fluid level and the tightness of the circuit, and the torch has to be made for water.
The card gives the brand as Böhler Welding, while the maker description covers the Selco Genesis 502 GSM power source, so confirm the configuration before you buy. The torch in the set is 4 m long; for longer cable assemblies choose the equipment separately and check the rolls and the liner for the wire diameter you use. For the TIG module you need a TIG torch and a regulator for argon, which the description does not list.

This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added.
