What Thermanit 308 Mo solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Thermanit 308 Mo is a high-alloyed solid wire for special applications. It suits welding stainless and acid-resistant steels on tanks, process plant, food and chemical equipment and structures in contact with water and steam.

The wire is fed continuously from the feeder and welded under shielding gas, from a semiautomatic torch.

  • Classification EN ISO: 14343-A G 20 10 3
  • AWS classification: A5.9 / SFA-5.9 ER308Mo(mod.)
  • Shielding gas: M12, M13
  • Approvals: TÜV (19800), DB (43.132.96), CE

Keep the heat input down and do not hold the joint hot longer than needed, austenite expands strongly and pulls the structure out of shape. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind.
