Thermanit 439 Ti is a solid MIG/MAG electrode wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It is used on process plant, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.
Parent materials are 1.4016, X6Cr17, AISI 430, 1.4502, X8CrTi18, 1.4510 and X3CrTi17. The wire also serves for cladding carbon steel surfaces, on tanks, process plant and equipment in contact with water and steam.
- Classification EN ISO: G Z 18 Ti L
- AWS classification: ER439 (mod.)
- Diameters: 1.0 / 1.2 mm
Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
