Technical Details and Certification
Materials and Construction
The 44-3008LB shield is a fine piece of materials engineering designed for one purpose: protecting the welder from extreme heat. Its performance comes from a two-layer hybrid construction.
The outer layer is made of heavy fibreglass. This material forms a strong heat-insulating barrier that effectively blocks the transfer of radiant heat and protects against splashes of very hot molten metal.
The inner layer, in direct contact with your glove and clothing, is selected grade A cowhide split leather with a thickness of at least 1 mm. It adds insulation and mechanical resistance as well as comfort and a secure grip.
The whole shield is joined with double seams sewn with 5-ply twisted DuPont™ KEVLAR® thread. This is a crucial detail: unlike products sewn with standard thread, the shield will not come apart under extreme temperature or mechanical stress.
Safety and Certification
The materials used in the 44-3008LB shield meet the highest standards required for Class 2 welding clothing under EN ISO 11611. This means they have been tested for resistance to flame, contact, convective and radiant heat and large splashes of molten metal. As a Weldas product, the shield is covered by a quality system certified to ISO 9001:2015 by TÜV Rheinland, which ensures consistent, high-standard workmanship.
